Started in 1947, Arthur Wrights is a traditional Sheffield Knife manufacturer. All their knives are still individually hand crafted by apprentice trained Sheffield Cutlers using methods passed down from generation to generation.

Every process, from blanking out the blades and springs, hardening and tempering, assembly, grinding and glazing - right up to the final polishing are all done in-house.This gives them a guaranteed quality control through every step of the process of knife making.

All their knives are made from high grade Carbon Steel and the handles materials are all natural materials that have been hand picked for the highest quality.

The 700 Bushcraft Knife is a sturdy outdoor survival knife hand made in Sheffield from 01 Carbon Tool Steel. Hardened to Rockwell 56/58, the edge is ground through rather than whetted to achieve a superbly sharp edge. It is impecably finished with Rosewood scales attached with loveless bolts and has a lanyard hole.

The overall length is22cms (8.5ins), and comes with a high quality leather sheath.

The blade is 4.5mms thick providing excellent strength, weight and balance.

The knife weighs approx. 240gms (7.5 ounces).

A lovely looking knife that is a real functional piece and will perform well with all those field tasks in one package. No silly 2 year waiting lists!!

Overall great knife!

The good:

+Very well made handle, flush and even fitting of the bolts, nice quality of

the wood

+Steel gets razor sharp (no problem to shave tiny hairs)

+Sharp spine for firesteel

+Good finnish on the whole knife

+very secure and comfortable grip even in my XL-sized hands

The bad (at first)

The Scandi grind from the factory was a tad too thick and the knife would not cut well. (Problems to cut copy paper.) HOWEVER with a little work on my grinding stone this problem went away rather quickly and now the knife is outstanding in every aspect.

Compliments to Andy, the owner of the shop for responding very fast to my issue. He said the other knives they have in stock will get checked and I am absolutely sure that no other 700 knife will leave the shop with a edge too thick.

So I think you can buy with confidence and I highly recommend this blade, exceptional value for the price!

Only 4 from 5 stars because I had to rework the edge - but as I said, I am sure this will be taken care of.
