BISON 1879 originates from the family tradition of master-smith Moritz Trept, a tradition that later became BISON, the company. Today BISON is synonymous with high-quality tools and craftsmanship, and when using them this heritage becomes abundantly clear. 

The Trekking Hatchet is a kind of universal tool as it's the smallest in the range and can be used in a lot of applications where you would be using a large fixed blade knife. The head 500g and, again, is hand forged and has a sharp polished edge that glides through your camp tasks with ease.

The handle is a short 240mm and is made from hard wearing hickory that is simply sanded and oiled. Hickory is the ideal material for axes as part of it's natural abilities is that it absorbs shock extremely well. Other woods will do this but hickory is definitely the best. It is attached the the head first, with a wedge and then a conical metal wedge.

Trekking Hatchet Set consists of 5 pieces of kit. The Hatchett, of course but there is an additional firesteel to light the campfire, A dual sided sharpening stone for keeping your axe sharp, a practical and sturdy bag made of super strong leather with strap and 1belt loops for convenient transport. All of course with the original Bison-Logo tool

To keep your axe and it safe it comes with a excellent quality leather mask that is riveted together so it is super strong.
