NEW Badger

NEW Badger

TBS EDC Folding knives have been a phenomenal success and, we believe, for a very good reason…..

Everyone argues what the “Best” knife is but I have always argued that the best one is the one you have. The “Best” knife is useless if it is in the draw at home, which is why we wanted to make a knife that was essentially legal every day carry in 95% of the Worlds Countries.

It all started with the Boar EDC and was the first on the market to offer a sub 3", Scandi Ground blade, which made it the perfect Bushcraft EDC. There have been, more recently, another company that decided they wanted to follow suit and make a Scandi EDC but it is nearly twice the price and I honestly can't see why.

Now don't get me wrong, it is an excellent quality product and I am not about to go rubbishing it but I just don't get the price. It is essentially the same materials, made in the same way and, very nearly, made in the same place so it has always been  puzzle. I suppose that if you need to pay a commission on every one you sell to put a big name on it then that would probably add a few Quid!!

Anyway, we now produce the Boar EDC, the Timberwolf EDC, the Badger EDC and the Wildcat EDC and we have been tinkering with a few tweaks in the design of the Badger after getting some pointers and feedback from customers, and yes, we do listen.

The Badger has always been popular as it is brilliant sub £50 EDC and is a slimmer design that is ideal for the pocket. It features a sabre ground, clip point, stainless steel blade and is made in 3 different handle variations. We will still be offering the Badger with the clip point so that is not going anywhere but we wanted to offer a slightly modified handled version that featured a pocket clip. We are making this with a drop point blade in the same way but just wanted a slight point of difference for this model.

(Pocket clip will be brushed stainless on the production model)

We have also decided to offer it is a wider choice of handle variants so this time we are making them with Curly Birch, Turkish Walnut, Olive Wood, Black G10, Green G10 and Orange G10. I am a big fan of all but if you had to push me on a pocket knife I will always go with a synthetic handle and G10 has got to be my favourite. It's just bomb proof and when I need to clean I just wash it in the sink just like any kitchen knife. No fuss and straight back in the pocket. The wood versions will need a little more care, especially if you get them wet as they will need to dry out and need oiling.

The pocket clip came about simply because it was something that missing from the range and the Badger was the most obvious choice for this feature. The models shown here are all just prototypes for field testing so on the production models the pocket clip will be brushed steel, not black. We only had black available at the time of prototyping so that's what we went with.

Anyway, we hope these new models will be ready around late August to early July and should coincide with our new Raptor series of knives that specialise in hunting and field dressing so an Orange G10 Badger will be a solid asset in that arsenal.
