Lantern Instructions

Feuerhand Lanterns are always best using quality Paraffin.

To fill:
Unscrew the filler cap and fill with paraffin up to the lower end level of the filler tube and close the filler cap firmly.

Lighting and extinguishing:
To raise the globe, press lever and hold in position, this is facilitated by the notch in the lateral frame tube. light the wick and l;lower the globe slowly. Regulate the size of the flame by means of the wick winder so that the globe is fully illuminated but not sooted. The minimum height of the flame is 15mm, the maximum height should not exceed 20mm. The lamp has to be hung or placed to operate in a vertical position and kept away from other inflammable objects. To extinguish turn the flame down with the wick winder to minimum.

Cleaning or Replacing Globe:
Lift metal chimney by means of the ring on the top of the lamp, tilt the globe backwards in the cage and lift out, clean the glass with kitchen paper.

Replacing the Wick:
Open the lantern as indicated above, detach burner from bayonet locking by turning, and insert the new wick from below.

Lanterns and paraffin must be kept away from children.

CAUTION: IF YOU BUY A CHEAP INFERIOR COPY THE GLASS WILL VERY LIKELY CRACK OR SHATTER IF IT GETS WET! CHEAP VARIANTS ALSO VERY RARELY HAVE ANY SEALS TO HELP GUARD AGAINST LEAKAGE!
