They have been making this style of boot for quite some time now and the upgrade "II" version just introduces a few extra features as technology evolves and more ideas get realised.
The Tatra GTX Boots are a real premium quality product that will keep your feet warm and dry in the absolute worst conditions. They are a very supportive and sturdy boot and being Gore-Tex Lined they have the added security that you will never get wet. They are made from a superior high grade Nubuck Leather that insures increased comfort and are Gore-Tex lined for increased water proofness and security.
They also have Hanwags Pattented bearing system in the lacing (small ball bearings in the lace eyelets) that allow you to get the ideal tension through the laces and enhances the special clamps on the side effectively holding the foot in place and ensuring ideal ankle support. This really helps to prevent twisted ankles and minimizes blisters (via a better heel fit). They now also feature a Click Clamp eyelet for 2-zone lacing and a tongue lace hook prevents tongue from slipping
They are fitted with an advanced Vibram AW Integral sole unit which not only gives great grip and with additional shock absorption under the heel it gives footwear with stiffer soles huge benefits from this outstanding cushioning. They now have an all new footbed to make these already mega comfortable boots even more comfortable (I didn't think it was possible)
All in all I am certain you will be really happy in Hanwags for many years to come and they are worth every penny. Half sizes available on request.
Great boots
Love these boots. They don't need wearing in, have a good, precise fit and feel, no heel lift and come in at a reasonable weight. They're comparable to my old Scarpa Delta Actives, but with much better fit and comfort all round.
Have just worn them for a hillwalking weekend in Kintail, bagging 9 munros. Very comfortable the whole way, no blisters or hot spots. The insole is a little thin and unforgiving, so I might upgrade that at some point, but not a significant issue.
Fit: I ordered my normal size and these fitted just fine.
