Helikon Canopy Jungle Shirt - Oilve Green
I had a shirt, many years ago that I loved. It was a military issue shirt but I always thought it could be improved using the right material. I suppose with most run of the mill military kit it is always made to a budget by the cheapest bidder so you never get exactly what you want.
Anyway I can definitely see the evolution of the Canopy Shirt from that original shirt of 30 years ago as the design is similar but it is just better. Better material, better execution and well, better!
It is a lightweight field shirt that is made for the jungle, tropical, and dense vegetation environments but good kit doesn't have to pigeon holed, it just works The Canopy Jungle Shirt was made for times when heat and humidity make it uncomfortable to do things. Whether hiking with a backpack or traversing dense vegetation, the lightweight nylon construction effectively wicks moisture, dries quickly, and does not impede movement.
It gives great protection from sun, insects, and bacteria as it provides UPF50 protection, which helps reduce the effect of UV radiation. There is also an anti-mosquito coating to the fabric to help prevent mosquito bites by using a plant based active ingredient.
The additional antibacterial finish gives the material bacteriostatic properties. It prevents the growth of bacteria and lessens offensive odor when used vigorously in hot and humid conditions.
There are great features to the pocket layout and you can have all your necessary EDC equipment on hand. There’s a thin cord loop in each pocket where you can attach small gear to it and reduce the risk of losing it in the field.
It also features Canadian style buttons which are not only easy to use they are less likely to get damaged or come off during heavy use compared to normally stitched buttons. It has buttoned cuffs which let let you adjust the sleeves around the wrists but you can roll them up and secure them with a button tab to keep them from unrolling.
There are mesh ventilation panels under the arms and on the back which support airflow in the areas most exposed to overheating. There are two additional pockets, behind the main pocket which are ideal for flat items like notebooks or maps that feature YKK® zips.
