Hultafors Classic Carpenters Fine Axe
Hultafors has a strong and proud tradition of making axes that goes all the way back to 1697. (about 300 years before the other guys!!). At Hults Bruk in the County of Ostergotland their Blacksmiths are among the few in the World who still master the craft.
The Classic axes are forged by hand for high quality axe steel and through repeated pounding the steel is shaped into the axe head. Each strike increases the density of the steel which gives a strong, durable axe that will serve you a lifetime. The next step is the hardening process which creates a distinct hardening zone in which the axe can be re-sharpened many times with the same strength and sharpness.
Forged in the pattern of the traditional Swedish Hjärtum-Axe. The relatively broad blade is almost straight and has a double beveled cut. The thin and finely ground blade provides precision and enables carving. This axe is intended for use in dried wood. The concave shape between the handle and the edge allows a closer grip. In this position the axe can be used as a chisel or a large knife.
With the straight handle and the flat neck this axe can be used as a hammer, but never use it on steel. Remember there is always a risk to hit steel against steel – the can be steel splinters that damages e.g. an eye! Use protective glasses and suitable workwear!
