The latest version of the Katadyn Hiker Pro allows you to filter a whopping 1150 litres of water on one cartridge so is ideal for an expedition.

It features a great transparent design so users can follow the flow of the water and the filtering process and allows you to see the state of the cartridge. It also features a large filter surface of 271cm² (107 square inches) which makes pumping easier.

It should take approximately 48 strokes per minute to provide 1 litre of water and is ideal to fill you water bottle or hydration systems. It is always best to filter clear and occasionally turbid water is if the water is particularly turbid then a Millbank type bag is always a good shout.

The 130-micron prefilter increases the lifespan of the filter cartridge in cloudy water. The activated carbon granulate also has the added bonus of reducing bad water taste and odour. The filter is also cleanable and this then extends the lifespan of the filter cartridge.
