They have a 4-Stage Purifying Water in the Straw which consists of a coarse filter screen, a double layer pp cotton fibre, a coconut shell activated carbon and a hollow fibre ultrafiltration membranes, which can also remove coliforms to improve the taste.

The life straw water filter weighs just 2 ounces and fits perfectly in your hand, backpacks and survival packs and makes it highly portable. It provides up to 1500 litres of drinking water, and is only 6.7" long and 1" in diameter to fit with any bottle, cup, or glass.

The pore size of the water filter straw is 0.1 microns which can filter out most of the tiny material from the water. It is the best water filter for camping. Compared to other 0.2-micron filter straw on the market, Membrane Solutions 0.1 micron water filter straw maintains the optimum flow rate with a smaller pore size and maintain higher filtration accuracy.

The 4 stage filter process consists of:

• Stage 1: The water from coarse filter gets through PP Cotton, intercept residual particles will be rejected here, and the stage can reduce water turbidity.
• Stage 2: The water from coarse filter gets through PP Cotton, intercept residual particles will be rejected here, and the stage can reduce water turbidity.
• Stage 3: This stage is an activated carbon filter, with 5microns average pore size, it can efficiently remove coliforms, reduce turbidity and odour, improve the taste of water.
• Stage 4: The core stage of the filter, it is a hollow fibre, the average pore size of it is 0.1 micron. It can remove 99.99% coliforms in the water.

If the Purifying Water Straw won't be used for an extended period of time, or if flow rate or taste quality has diminished then it is recommended to backflush. Backflushing is more effective if performed before letting the filter to dry out:

To do this simply remove the dust cap, then twist off the mouthpiece and thread on a squeezable plastic water bottle containing clean water (Commonly available in most shops) and back wash it through to the threaded cap.
