Mk I TBS Boar Bushcraft Knife

The Boar has always been a firm favourite and popular Worldwide but we have decided to release the Mark 2 version in November 2019 (or before, as soon as they are ready) so there are some fantastic prices available on the Mark 1 version.

The TBS range of knives are made from top quality European materials and are built to last. We have selected some the best steels for the job, the highest quality handle materials and some great leather work to bring these impeccably made knives to the market.

The Boar Bushcraft Knife is a great knife for the field and ticks all the boxes. It is razor sharp, scandi ground, easy to maintain, a full tang and is constructed from top quality materials.

High Grade Bohler K720 High Carbon Tool steel is one of the toughest steels out there and is used widely to make high precision tools that need to stand up to some serious punishment.

High Grade Bohler N695 Stainless steel which has a high hardness and great wear resistance and is one of Bohlers premium stainless steels. We have decided to make a variant of our knives in this steel as, after quite some testing, we have found that it performs extremely well.
It has a higher Carbon content that many other stainless steels which means it holds an edge longer and can be tempered to the same degree as Carbon Steels. This particular steel actually has a higher content than many High Carbon Tool Steels. This makes it perform with pretty much all the benefits of Carbon Steel with the added bonus of great corrosion resistance.

The blade has a full "Scandi" grind to it that is wickedly sharp straight out of the box. There are big benefits to having a proper Scandi grind to a knife and these are mainly to do with edge maintenance. A Scandi grind essentially means that the whole bevel of the knife is the edge (there is no secondary bevel) so when it comes to sharpening life is made very simple. When sharpening you can simply place the entire knife on the stone, roll it up onto the bevel and you will always achieve the correct angle for sharpening; MUCH easier than a knife with a secondary bevel!

It is handled in super grade Turkish Walnut which is a superb material and, although it will need oiling and maintaining, its is well worth it as it matures wonderfully to become amazingly weatherproof. The handles are also wonderfully ergonomic and fit the hand perfectly for hours of hard work. The handle is very slightly longer (1cm) than most knives of this type on the market and this allows more flexibility for positioning for different uses or simply a better fit for users with larger hands.

The sheath with this model is a high quality leather product that allow you to carry the knife in the regular way or offers the versatility of being able to be carried a linear fashion along a belt or to be attached to the strap of a bag or even on MOLLE type webbing if need be. It also is designed to be able to attach different accessories to the front of the sheath like a DC4 Sharpening stone or TBS Firesteel.

Our knife range is manufactured from high quality European materials by a top, well known, European manufacturer in small batches; they are NOT churned out in their thousands in a factory in the Far East. This allows us to have ultimate control over quality and materials and we are extremely happy with the results.

Forget Cold Steel, forget Bark River, forget the way over priced Fallkniven, in fact forget all the top end £200+ knives that you though were the best thing in Christendom. The TBS range of knives are superb! Whilst being kind on the pocket they are superb in the field. I use a TBS Boar in stainless Bohler N695 with natural micarta handles and my son uses the Wolverine with G10 handles in N695. Both Knives perform so well in the field they are a total pleasure to use. The only problem you will have is choosing which one you want ( I am still longing for the Grizzly and need to make an excuse to get it with my better half). Feather sticking is a breeze, batoning is a doddle, even with the 4mm thick Wolverine it batons so well, the Boar is a great chopper too so it even ticks that box. The last thing is the ease of sharpening these knives. N695 is so easy to sharpen and retains an edge for a good long time. If you find you have to sharpen the knife in the field then the Fallkniven DC4 or similar does the job perfectly. I cannot praise these prices of kit enough. Thanks TBS and your customer service is second to none, so much so that when the stitching failed on my Boar Sheath then a replacement was in the post the next day. You can't beat British, thanks Bushcraft Store I will be back, possibly for that Grizzly...
