NEW TBS Glenmore Small Forest Axe

The TBS Glenmore Small Forest Axe is the latest in the TBS range and it is something that follows our traditional route of European quality materials and construction.

The Grizedale Hatchet has been a real success so we have refined that model with a new German manufacturer and now also produced a slightly larger version to become the Glenmore Small Forest Axe.

This axe sits at the mid point between the Grizedale Hatchet and the Sherwood Forest Axe and I know it will be popular as it makes for a great all rounder. It features a 600g head and a 50cm handle which is an excellent balance between size and weight. It also features a high quality leather axe mask.

The head is made from a Carbon Steel that is differentially heat treated. The main body of the head is hardened to 48HRC which gives a great balance of shock absorbance and strength. The edge is quenched to 55HRC which gives an excellent balance of strength and edge retention.

I know some axe manufacturers have made the head much harder but I have found that this just results in a constant edge chipping problem and, in some cases, shearing off the entire heel off the axe head....
