Opinel knife blades are made using steels with a high carbon content, which is what makes it possible to achieve the excellent hardness after heat treatment, guaranteeing the good strength of the cutting edge, resistance to wear and easy sharpening.
They use Sandvik 12C27 modified stainless steel which is one of the best Stainless Steels on the market today. It is anti-corrosive thanks to the addition of chrome and requires no special maintenance. Its carbon content of at least 0.40% gives excellent cutting edge.
The blade locks using the Virobloc safety ring, which in addition to locking the blade in the open position for safety of use, now enables locking of the blade in the closed position for safety during carrying.
The handle is made from durable French orange beech wood, and the Opinel Yatagan blade, with its curved point and round profile, is effective, precise, elegant.
The Opinel folding knife is an ideally sized backup or emergency pocket knife, perfect for all purposes - a true all rounder.

Campsite knife
To me this is a perfect, basic, value for money knife made from quality materials, it is nicely balanced and comfortable in the hand.
I like the simple but clever locking collar that means the blade stays firmly open, or closed making it safe to use or carry.
An ideal knife for me to use around the campsite.
Ideal little prep knife
This really is a handy little knife. It folds neatly and is very secure when locked in both open and closed position. The turning of the metal but at the bottom of the handle is a brilliant design. I am using this very well designed little knife for food prep work But it can be used for so much more. Overall, this knife has to be a five star rating just because of its performance and features.
