Ridgeline Monsoon Elite II Waterproof Smock
The Ridgeline Monsoon Elite Waterproof jacket has had an upgrade for 2017 as it is now utilising a new type of fabric. The upgrades in the new variants are very welcome and they make this already great waterproof even better.
The new Ridgeline Monsoon Elite II uses a major advance in Ridgeline fabric technology. Made with the new RL #Hi-DROSTRETCH 5K™ 3 layer laminated shell, which is light, waterproof (10,000 H20) and breathable (5,000 MVT) the new Ridgeline Monsoon Elite II is probably the most versatile and comfortable smock on the market. A major advantage of this new fabric is that it does not absorb or retain water reducing weight and discomfort, and this allows the garment to dry quickly and keep you comfortable for longer. All in all the new Monsoon Elite II Smock with features such as wired and removable hood, neoprene inner cuffs, waterproof zips, binocular pocket, waist clinch and classic New Zealand style makes it the best in its class.

Ok I'm a Kiwi living in Scandinavia some 10 years. You could say that my review is biased as the Bushmaster Anorak is originally from NZ but I've had the good fortune of having tested most breathable fabrics in the Forces and in the wild. The initial impression of this garment is positive. ALOT of jacket for 200 Pounds and something any bushcrafter should have in their arsenal. Found the jacket very quiet and completely ok for stalking which is its main use. Go on treat yourself .-)
The previous review is about waterproofness. Upon receipt of my Bushmaster I tested the breathability immediately. Just curious about this aspect. I walked for 2 hours 4:35 mph at a temperature of 7C. The Bushmaster breathed excellent and held no vapor trapped. A beautifully finished smock. Excellent craftsmanship. And first class service and delivery by The Bushcraft Store. Highly recommended.
As tested, absolutely waterproof. It only requires to be shaken off and it becomes dry again, as the fabric doesn't absor moisture.
I ordered mine one size bigger than required, as the sizes are a little smaller than "normal", and it's fine.
