I have always been a little reluctant to make special editions, as I much prefer our knives to be used, but I was offered these materials and I just couldn't say no. I was in Germany recently and met with some material suppliers, chief amongst them was a Danish timber company that stabilises materials and secondly I was offered some Rams horn. After seeing them I simply couldn't resist so we decided to make the Special Edition Boar!
This model is no show pony, although it will hold it's own in any beauty pageant, it is built tough and will really perform just like all the other models we do.
The TBS range of knives are made from top quality European materials and are built to last. We have selected some the best steels for the job, the highest quality handle materials and some great leather work to bring these impeccably made knives to the market.
We have chosen to make the Special Edition with High Grade Bohler N690 Stainless steel which has been selected as has high hardness and great wear resistance and is one of Bohlers premium Martensitic stainless steels. It differs slightly from the N695 Stainless Steel simply because Bohler have added Cobalt and Vanadium which increases the hardness. This in turn gives you greater edge holding properties. It is ideal for hardened cutting tools
The blades have a full "Scandi" grind to them that are wickedly sharp straight out of the box. There are big benefits to having a proper Scandi grind to a knife and these are mainly to do with edge maintenance. A Scandi grind essentially means that the whole bevel of the knife is the edge (there is no secondary bevel) so when it comes to sharpening life is made very simple. When sharpening you can simply place the entire knife on the stone, roll it up onto the bevel and you will always achieve the correct angle for sharpening; MUCH easier than a knife with a secondary bevel!
This model is handled in stabilised Chestnut from Denmark and it is wonderfully ergonomic and fits the hand perfectly for hours of hard work. The handle is very slightly longer (1cm) than most knives of this type on the market and this allows more flexibility for positioning for different uses or simply a better fit for users with larger hands.
The Sheath is a high quality leather product that allow you to carry the knife in the regular way or offers the versatility of being able to be carried a linear fashion along a belt or to be attached to the strap of a bag or even on MOLLE type webbing if need be. It also is designed to be able to attach different accessories to the front of the sheath like a DC4 Sharpening stone or TBS Firesteel.
We have added a TBS Matching Firesteel, a Fallkniven DC4 Sharpening Stone and the TBS DC4 & Firesteel attachment for the sheath to make a great package of three highly useful tools.

Simon F-Kent Uk-
How to begin with this beautiful knife from TBS, I own a number of TBS knives now but the most recent was the special edition in staberlised chestnut, the blade is a nice 4.5 mm thick N690 stainless steel which provides strength with a full tang, the spine of the knife is polished to a mirror finish which is complemented with the red fibre liners, that set off the stablised chestnut scales a treat. All in all a really nice looking knife but still as strong as all the rest of the standard boar knives in the store range! Would I buy this knife again? Most definitely, in fact the special edition in rams horn is on my x mas list!
