Keeping your kit in tip top condition is essential in the field and if you look after your kit it will look after you. I always sort my kit out before anything else as the "I'll do it later" is a 100% guarantee that it just won't get done.

Using a strop is a much underrated aspect of sharpening and to be really effective you need a compound. After sharpening you will always get a slight burr, even if you think you can't feel it so using a leather strop can remove that to leave a super fine, shaving sharp edge to your knife.

Blade Medic Stropping Compounds are hand-crafted in the UK for serious users who rely on their edges — from bushcraft and field kit to workshop blades and kitchen knives.

Formulated with micron-graded aluminium oxide suspended in a natural beeswax and camellia oil binder, each bar delivers controlled steel removal, superior edge refinement, and outstanding longevity.

Designed for use on leather or wooden strops, these compounds are ideal for routine maintenance, post-stone refinement, and final edge stabilisation.

Each pack includes two grits: Stabilise (3 micron) for refinement and Cure (1 micron) for final finishing. This gives you a complete two-stage stropping system in one pack.

Stabilise – 3 Micron

The workhorse refinement compound.

Removes residual burr, cleans scratch patterns from stones, and restores crisp cutting performance without over-polishing. Perfect for regular maintenance in the field or workshop.

Best for:

  • Daily knife upkeep
  • Bushcraft tools
  • Workshop blades
  • Post-stone stropping

Cure – 1 Micron

The finishing stage.

Polishes the apex, smooths micro-serrations, and improves  edge retention for cleaner, longer-lasting cuts. Ideal as a final pass after Stabilise.

Best for:

  • Final edge finishing
  • Razor-keen performance
  • Carbon & stainless steels
  • Push-cutting tasks

Natural Binder System

Each compound uses a hardened beeswax and camellia oil base to ensure:

  • Firm, non-greasy application with no chemicals
  • Excellent adhesion to strops
  • Long shelf life
  • Clean handling in the field
  • Water resistance

How to Use:

  1. Rub a light coating onto a clean leather or wooden strop.
  2. Strop the blade lightly, alternating sides, until sharpness is restored.
  3. Reapply sparingly when required.

Handmade in the UK

Produced in small batches and quality-checked before leaving the workshop.
